This past July was our wedding anniversary – 14 years to be exact! To celebrate, we went to Temecula to visit a few of their wineries for a fun day out and about.  For that reason, I wanted an anniversary outfit that was equal parts comfortable and chic to mark the occasion.  And, in my opinion, there’s no better piece to do that than with a pleated dress! So, when I recently spotted this one from Shein, I had to check it out and I am happy to report that it’s a #keeper! Between the timeless style, the colors, and the beautiful pleats, it checks all the boxes for me.  Today, I am excited to share a quick review of this dress, including fit, material, and color, as well as the simple way my little bestie and I styled it for this milestone.

Let’s kick things off with the fit!

Fit

I got a small in this Shein Color Block Pleated Dress, and overall, I would say it’s true to size.  The v neck is flattering, not low at all, but you could also make it lower cut if you wanted to with the adjustable shoulder straps.  Additionally, the skirt portion of this dress has an elasticized waist for a comfy fit while the pleated midi length flows away from the body and drapes beautifully without clinging.  Basically, perfect for hiding the tummy area as it doesn’t show off every little lump and bump! #mykindofdress  

Material

In terms of material, this Shein Color Block Pleated Dress is made with 100% polyester.  So, it’s totally lightweight and airy making it ideal for outdoor or warm-weather celebrations.  In fact, it was in the mid-90s when I wore this dress, but because the fabric flows in the breeze and doesn’t stick to my body, I didn’t melt! #happydance Instead, it allowed me to focus on the very important task at hand – to sit, relax, and enjoy the day with my favorite people! Not to mention, thanks to the pleats, it’s also extremely flattering and has such beautiful movement when you walk.  #swoon

Color

As for color, this Shein Color Block Pleated Dress comes in five different colorways, but I love how this one combines a mix of browns and black.  I find it very eye catching and the colors in it makes it easy to mix and match with different tops, shoes, and accessories.  

Style

With that in mind, even though it was hot during our visit, I wanted something to protect my arms to keep my skin safe since I sunburn easily.  So, for this special occasion look, I layered a sheer cropped cardigan on top for added texture and coverage.  As it turns out, not only did it keep me cool, but it was cute on and worked well with the dress.  

Along those lines, although, I am wearing this outfit in the summertime, this would also look cute in the fall for a get together, errands, or even Thanksgiving.  I plan to switch the cardigan for a sweater and substitute the heels with a cute pair of booties or sneakers with this outfit.  

Speaking of which, I added neutral-colored accessories to compliment the brown hues of this Shein Color Block Pleated Dress.  I’ve owned my shoes for almost 7 years now and was a F21 find! It’s such a classic style and they are so easy to walk in.  These sunglasses from Amazon and YSL handbag are new additions to my closet this year.  And I love how both instantly adds an understated elegance to my look and takes it up a notch! 

But, in my opinion, the most important piece of a special occasion ensemble is your bestie.  Because let’s be honest, an anniversary isn’t a special occasion without the one you love.  Am I right or am I right?! So, of course, my son joined in on the fun! To bring our look together, he coordinated with me with this cute brown and black shirt also from Shein.  With it, he is wearing a pair of black trousers that came from this Amazon suit set and these black dress shoes from the Children’s Place.  I also refreshed his eyewear and I hit the jackpot with this pair. It’s well made and fits my son’s face shape perfectly.
