Legoland Photo Diary + A Few Tips

During our road trip to Carlsbad in July of last year, we took the opportunity to visit Legoland.  This was our first time there and my oh my, what a treat it was! From the moment we stepped foot through their gates, we were transported to the magical world of Legos.  Inside or outside, there was no shortage of unique Lego designs, structures, or sculptures and I couldn’t help but appreciate the creativity that went into each one.  Wherever you turned, there was something new to discover.  It was all very picturesque and let me just say, it made my photo taking loving heart giddy! But more than that, Legoland is a place created with kids and families in mind.  With 60 different rides and attractions, there’s something for everyone and even if you aren’t a fan, it’s not hard to be engulfed in the excitement.  Needless to say, I didn’t expect us to love it as much as we did, but my family and I absolutely enjoyed our time there.  So, without further ado, here’s a roundup of some of my favorite photos from our trip to Legoland along with a few simple tips to help plan your visit.

Here we go!

Get there early

In order to make the most out of your visit at Legoland, you’ll have to get there early.

For us, it was not too far of a walk from the hotel we stayed at.  But I still woke up my gang early because mama don’t like big crowds and I am happy to report – mission accomplished! Matter of fact, we had most of the park all to ourselves.  I was able to take photos without any interruptions and my son had free reign riding one of his favorite rides repeatedly without having to wait in line to get on it for too long.

Look at the map

That said, there’s no point getting to the park early, if you don’t know where to start.  So, in my opinion it’s a good idea to look at Legoland’s official website to figure out what rides or attractions you and your family would like to do or completely forego altogether.  For us, my two companions watched a couple of YT videos a few days before our trip to get themselves familiar with the park.  That way, they knew which rides they wanted to get on.

Age and height requirements

Following on from the point above, Legoland is geared towards children ages 2-12.  However, some attractions have height requirements, which means that there will be rides that won’t work if you have a little one that doesn’t meet their criteria.  So, to help manage expectations, I would recommend figuring out which rides are appropriate for your child.

Check the weather and pack the essentials

Of course, it goes without saying that it’s important to check the weather before you visit. On the day we went the temperature was in the low 70s. While this certainly made our visit pleasant, it meant that we needed to pack sunscreen, hats, water, and a few snacks to stay comfortable and safe from the sun.

Clean out your camera roll

Lastly, as someone who loves to take a lot of photos, there’s nothing more frustrating than my phone telling me I’ve run out of storage. So, to avoid any memory capturing stress, I would highly suggest clearing out your camera roll the night before by deleting old photos or unnecessary files. This way, you have plenty of space for all those moments you don’t want to forget.
