Monthly Ramblings #15

It’s been a minute since my last ramblings post, and we’ve packed a lot of life since then.  Today, I am happy to rewind a bit, and look back onto a handful of important celebrations, milestones and happenings around in our neck of the wood’s worth mentioning.

With that, let’s pick up right where we left off.

April Highlights

Easter Hop and Shop

This year, for Easter, we attended our local downtown’s hop and shop event.  I figured it was a great way to change things up and get my little family out of the house to enjoy the festivities.  There was face painting, live music, photo ops, and, of course, shopping! My son enjoyed the whole process, and I would say my husband got into it as well.

Waterpark Adventure Birthday Party

Planning my son’s birthday party is something I’ve always loved, and for his 11th birthday, we threw him a waterpark adventure bash at the Great Wolf Lodge in Manteca with a few of his friends.  It was jam-packed with fun, and I can honestly say the kids couldn’t have been happier splashing around.  In fact, we basically shut the place down! That said, I will share all the details in a full blog post soon. #youknowthedrill, stay tuned!

May Highlights

Mother’s Day Tea

Every year in May, my son’s school has an annual tradition of hosting Mother’s Day Tea, and it’s always such a treat.  There’s nothing better than spending an afternoon with the one that made me a mama.  Add tea and cookies into the mix – yes please!

Last Day of School

Two weeks after that, it was my son’s last day of 5th grade.

June Highlights

Moving Day

Then, 10 days later, it was our big move.

We are now officially Southern Californians! #lol

Home Bedroom Office

One of the things I was looking forward to when we moved into our new house was a home office.  For so long, I have been wanting a space I can call my own, and it finally happened in June.  Since then, I’ve slowly been working on bringing my design to life.  While it’s not 100% complete, I am really happy for how it’s all coming together.

July Highlights

Legoland

We visited Legoland for the first time last year, and it was so much fun! From the moment we stepped foot through their gates, we were transported to the magical world of Legos. Inside or outside, there was no shortage of unique Lego designs, structures, or sculptures. It was all very picturesque. So, of course, we had to come back but this time with friends, and in early July, we did exactly that! Between the rides, the playgrounds, and building with Legos, everyone had a good time. We were also blessed with beautiful weather, and the park wasn’t super crowded so there wasn’t much waiting in line at all. That said, as we were visiting with friends, it was important for me to be present, and I didn’t snap as many photos as I would have if it were just us three. But here’s a few I did get that are worth sharing.

And as my family is a creature of habit, #ifitaintbroke, for dinner, we ventured back to Karl Strauss Brewing Company for dinner.  I ordered the Korean BBQ rice bowl with salmon, and it did not disappoint.  The flavors were amazing, and everything tasted so fresh.  I savored every bite and highly recommend!

Liberty Public Market

The following week after that, my son and I ventured off to San Diego to visit with my dad and brother.  Now that we are farther away, it’s not as easy for us to see each other.  So, any opportunity to do so is special.  Since they were going to be a lot closer to where we now live, we didn’t hesitate to join them.  Needless to say, I am so glad that we did.  Not only were we able to spend some quality time together, but the hotel we stayed at was 10 minutes away from Liberty Station.  There’s so much to see and do and very family friendly.  For us, though, we spent most of our time at the Liberty Public Market and ate our way through the 30+ food stalls.  Here’s some of our favorites:

Of course, you can’t visit San Diego without going shopping.  We went to Fashion Valley and there was so much eye candy.

But my favorite store I visited has got to be Kurt Geiger.  Everything was so beautiful!

I texted my husband this picture and told him I wanted this ginormous bag for my birthday! #swoon

Part-timeJob

To cap the month of August, I am excited to finally share the news with you guys. Last Monday, I got a message from our local school district, and I am pleased to announce – I got a job! I will be working 25 hours a week as a teacher’s assistant, and I start tomorrow. #wishmeluck

And that’s about it for today, but before I sign off, I wanted to wish you a wonderful Labor Day holiday. I am so very grateful for each one of you. Thank you for stopping by!

Now it’s your turn! What’s one random thing you are loving lately, dying to try out, or looking forward to?
