Everyone says, “they grow up so fast” and if you are a mama, you’ve experienced this to be true. I swear I blinked and now my son is almost seven! Officially a little boy.
While I am lucky enough to be able to stay at home with my son, I will be the first to admit that we don’t always get to spend quality time together. Often, life is busy. In between all the errands, chores and the mechanical routine of the day to day, it’s easy to forget to simply be in the moment and give my son my undivided attention. But I know I can’t expect a good relationship with my little man if I am not setting aside the time to connect.
So, today, I am sharing with you one of our favorite activity that help us to spend focused, quality time together.
If you’ve read my previous blog posts, you know our love language is snacking! We had been talking about having a picnic and finally made it happen. We were blessed with a beautiful day on Wednesday and took advantage by heading outside after school. I don’t know about you but there’s nothing quite like a picnic. There’s just something special eating outdoors and getting some fresh air to help us reconnect. We ran around in the park, we talked, and we nibbled on our favorite goodies.
Speaking of goodies, the perfect picnic isn’t complete without the perfect snacks. For us, we have a number of munchies that we reach for again and again. This includes chips, pretzels, cookies, and recently we added corn snacks from Love, Corn to our repertoire.
If you aren’t familiar with Love, Corn, it is a dry roasted corn snack. With only four ingredients, these corn snacks are an example of simplistic goodness. Not to mention, it ticks all the boxes: crunchy, savory and addictive. We had a hard time putting these down once we opened them. You can eat them right out of the bag. Or crumble them up to add some crunch to your soup or salad if you want to mix it up. In addition, these corn snacks come in individual snack pack bags that make it incredibly easy to throw into lunch boxes or backpacks for a yummy snack on the go.
In terms of flavor, these corn snacks are perfection! The flavors are spot on and are not overpowering at all. They come in many different flavors such as BBQ, Habanero Chili, and Sea Salt. Honestly it is so hard to pick a favorite because they are all just that good. Even the plain sea salt, which normally isn’t a flavor I gravitate to was yummy.
As for the texture, Love, Corn doesn’t disappoint. You get a pleasant crunch with a whole lot of character! We absolutely love the almost airy texture. It is so addicting! The best part, they are not as hard as other corn snacks in the market. So, there’s no need to worry about chipping a tooth!
What’s more, Love, Corn is not only a tasty snack to satisfy all your crunchy cravings, but also a treat that is perfect for creating memories.
Love, Corn gave my son and I a chance to pause, catch up and just connect with each other – something that we both needed. And it looks like the little guy agrees!
What’s your favorite way to spend time with your son and/or daughter?

Now that I’m a new mom, I totally understand what you mean by how time flies. I mean it’s only been 6 months for me but it really has been so fast and I just want to cherish every moment! A picnic is such a great idea and I would love to have one with my baby when she’s older! Definitely adding Love, Corn to my picnic list!

Very sweet post Michelle!
I can see your son is getting taller! I love to go on picnics as well. We were just talking about that yesterday as it was 70 here. I think that is a great way to spend quality time and enjoy nature and being outside. Love your basket! I dont have kids, but we enjoy spending time with my 10 year old niece and being outside.

So this reminds me of Corn Nuts maybe?? I have to think they wouldn’t be as hard as Corn Nuts, because my mother broke many a tooth snacking on those in the old days!!
I love how your love language is snacking. That’s my husband to a tee!!!

Maureen, what a beautiful post! I love that you take the time to connect with your son and make it a special moment for him. Snacking is one of the ways I can connect with my boys, too. And I often feel disconnected from them even though we are home together all the time. It is my fault for getting to caught up in all the other stuff that we do during the day as parents. And it is so important to take that time for connection with our kids. I needed this little reminder, so thank you for that!

Be still my heart. This was such a sweet post and I can’t tell you how much I miss this time in my life. Although not every moment is magically, and many are downright hard, you seem to also be able to set time aside to be present. I am so happy for you. Also, I think I’ve finally figured out my live language, snacks and food.
Amy | 18th Feb 21
I love that you said snacking is your love language

What a cute picnic setup! I agree, heading out to the playground is a fun way to spend time together! 🙂 We’ve started visiting playgrounds more now, although while there were cases we spent most of our time on the local trails instead, it’s nice to get back to the playgrounds 🙂
Hope you had a good weekend and that your week is off to a nice start 🙂
