We simply love Mexican food and homemade burritos are a staple at our house! In fact, I make burritos throughout the year because they are one of those great easy meals that everyone can agree on. It’s quick, simple, and is just plain tasty! What’s more, it requires zero effort and just a couple of ingredients. Best of all, I love that the possibility for fillings is endless and that you can easily customize burritos to everyone’s tastes. Today, I am excited to share a quick and easy burrito recipe with Natural Heaven’s Seasoned Hearts of Palm Southwest Flavor.
But before I get to the recipe, I want to say that my family and I are not vegan or vegetarian. We don’t follow a special diet in our home, but we are health conscious and love to find healthy alternatives. That said, if you aren’t familiar with Natural Heaven, they make hearts of palm products, such as pasta, creamy mash and rice. And in case, you haven’t heard of hearts of palm before, it’s a vegetable harvested from the inner part of a palm tree. It is naturally low in calories, high in fiber, and a rich source of vitamins and minerals. In terms of flavor, they are tender and mild in taste, similar to artichokes which in my opinion, makes them a great ingredient to add to your diet or any recipes.
Speaking of, if you’ve read some of my other recipe posts before then you already know I am all about simplicity. So, when you need a quick and easy meal, that’s healthy and ready in under 10 minutes, this burrito recipe is just what you need.
Without further ado, let’s get to it!
*Burrito-size tortilla: You can use any large flour tortilla or these almond flour ones if you want something low carb.
*Avocado: I love using guacamole as a spread for burritos, it adds a ton of flavor.
*Natural Heaven Seasoned Hearts of Palm Southwest Flavor.
*Jalapeno: This is optional. I am a crazy hot and spicy lover and add jalapenos to my burritos.
*Hot Sauce: We always have a bottle in our fridge, and it adds the perfect zing of flavor in the end! Of course, if you aren’t a fan of hot sauce, you can add some fresh salsa instead.
To make the burrito, first you need to remove the hearts of palm from bag and microwave for one minute. Next, mash the avocado and season to taste. I usually just add pepper and garlic salt. Once you have these two items ready, you can assemble the burrito. Basically, spread the guacamole over the tortilla, then add the seasoned hearts of palm. From there, you can choose to add jalapenos, followed by the hot sauce, if you want your burrito extra spicy. Finally, fold and roll tightly. That’s it!

Yumm! You said the magic word, simplicity! I like that too and we do enjoy Mexican food as well. My Mom had taco night growing up before it became a “thing” . I am a fan of burritos and pinned your recipe. I am going to check out that brand. I hope you had a lovely weekend Maureen!

We love burritos around here! Also tacos, nachos and fajitas. LOL! I am also a fan of quick and easy, as well as batch making. I never thought to offer hot sauce to my spicy family lovers (that’s not me).

We don’t make mexican food much here because 3 of 4 boys won’t eat it! I like enchiladas and tacos quite a lot but even those I don’t make often. Nice simple recipe here!

I am touching 50 and on the lookout for low calorie high fibre food elements.Seems like Natural Heaven Hearts of Palm is a highly nutritive ingredient. Will surely try this in a burrito or any other item. Quick advice – if you like spicy you should try chopped Indian green chillis. These are hot yet not mouth burning.

Anything that makes dinner simpler is okay in my book. We’re doing training or sports 5 days a week so time is of the essence.

I love making burritos, but I’ve never tried this before. We don’t follow a strict diet either, but we try to eat meatless or vegan meals at least once or twice per week. I’m going to try to find this for next time we make them.
