With a few events and trips coming up this summer, I’d been keeping an eye out for special warm weather pieces to wear and bring with me.  And, anytime, I need to get dressed up for an occasion, I turn to Shein.  As you know, they are my very favorite place to shop, and I love that they always have so many pretty and unique pieces that I won’t find anywhere else.  So, today, I wanted to highlight and review a dress I discovered while browsing through all their new arrivals.  

Let’s talk size! 

Size

I now have several dresses from Shein over the years cut in this same style and as expected, it fits true to size.  But if you are in between sizes, you probably want to size up.  Since I put on a few stubborn pounds, I am currently between a S and M in most clothing right now.  So, for a little wiggle room, I went with the M on this Shein embroidered eyelet fit and flare dress, and I am happy with how it fits.  

Here’s why. 

Not only does the smocked bodice helps accentuate my figure without being too restrictive, but the embroidered eyelet sleeves give my simple style a wow factor.  And if that wasn’t enough, it also has a cut out in the back that adds some fun interest it.  In fact, it feels just the right amount of sexy for those moments that I want to show a bit of skin.  

On top of that, the skirt portion is also lined so it’s not see-through and the embroidered eyelet overlay floats as you move.  

Material

In terms of material, this Shein embroidered eyelet fit and flare dress is made of 100% polyester.  So, it is breathable and comfortable.  It is also lightweight making this ideal for those hot summer days.  Yet, the quality is top notch, and it also feels sturdy and well-made.  Because of that, it totally looks like a designer dress that you would find at a higher end department store, in my opinion. 

Color

As for color, it’s no secret that yellow has stolen my heart.  There’s something so fun about this hue and it just make me feel happy, no matter the occasion.  This Shein embroidered eyelet fit and flare dress is no exception.  The yellow eyelet embroidery with the soft white background is such a great combination.  It feels so fresh and fun to style.  

Style

Speaking of, I purchased this dress for a trip later this season, but I didn’t want to wait for our vacation to wear it.  #noselfcontrol So, I wore it for Mother’s Day.  I styled this Shein embroidered eyelet fit and flare dress with an old pair of wedges that I’ve owned for several years now.  They are my go-to for dressier looks.  But this dress would also look great with a white sneaker, or strappy slide.  And you guys first saw this straw bag in my monthly ramblings post two years ago.  I love that it holds everything I need it to and that it can be hand carried or worn crossbody with the adjustable and removable shoulder strap.  It’s a classic style and makes any outfit look a little more springy or summery!  

Final Thoughts

All in all, I’ve been a fan of smocked dresses for as long as I can remember.  Not only are they one of the most versatile pieces in my closet, but it’s just one of those pieces that embodies so many elements of my personal style – simple, easy, and sweet.  Though the hubby might disagree with that last one! #littleterror Nonetheless, I reach for this style for everything from vacations to lunch with friends.  So, if you are like me and want a dress that can go from day-to-night, this Shein embroidered eyelet fit and flare dress will be a timeless go-to in your closet for other upcoming events.  My family and I are traveling to East Coast in a few of months, and you bet this will be in my suitcase!

In other news, this is the last full week of the school year before summer.  My son has already started his break, so he has really been embracing the lazy summer days, laying around.  But I am still cranking through this week to make it to the finish line.  Only a few more days! Two blissful months free from the day-to-day work.  I can’t wait! I am really excited for all the time off to focus on some projects that I’ve been wanting to have more time for like making our Halloween costumes, reorganizing and cleaning out our closets, getting in longer workouts to get my love handles in check, and working through a backlog of blog posts I have had on my to-do list for months.  But most of all, I am looking forward to soaking up all the snuggles and cuddles with my bestie!
