Mommy & Me Outfit: Our Fall Uniform

In my opinion, nothing says autumn like a trip to the pumpkin patch and this has become an annual tradition for us.

Over the years, we’ve visited several different ones including G&M Farms and Joan’s Farm & Pumpkin Patch, both in Livermore as well as Fantozzi Farms in Patterson.  This year, we ventured back to Dell’Osso Family Farm in Lathrop.  We went on the train ride, played mini golf, saw the haunted house, got lost in the corn maze and so much more.  It was such a fun family day!

Of course, I had to make sure we visited the patch’s measuring stick to take our annual photos.  It’s fun to look back at photos from years past to see how much the little guy has grown and changed each year. Needless to say, a mommy and me look was in order.  So, today, I thought it would be fun to do a post sharing our fall uniform.

Let’s dive in!

Plaid Shirt

When it comes to our fall uniform, plaid shirts are the real MVP.  It is one of those pieces that never quite go out of style and our love of plaid shirts is well documented by now.  The ones I am featuring in this post are from Amazon.  The relaxed oversized fit is just our style and I absolutely love the colors.

Inside, my son’s plaid shirt is lined in the coziest sherpa while mine is lined in light fleece.  So, it’s both incredibly soft. #yesplease And, for extra comfort, it also has an attached hood that stays in place well.

While our shirts look great on its own, you can also tie it around your waist or leave it open like we did with a basic black long sleeve underneath. Seriously, fall perfection!

Cargo Jeans

I know this may not for everyone, but I can’t talk about our fall uniform without talking about cargo jeans.  I got these ones from Shein a while ago and had no idea they would become such favorites.  It has a wonderful medium wash and wide leg silhouette that pairs so beautifully with so many different items.  The material has that already broken in feel that makes them soft and comfortable.

And, of course, it has pockets galore! #obsessed

But apart from all the pockets, I love their laid-back and carefree vibe that says you are ready for a fun day out!

Sneakers

To round out our fall uniform, I love to pair this combination with a good pair of sneakers. This time, we went with a black sneaker.  Not only are they great for everyday wear, but it allows the plaid shirts to pop and keep our look cohesive.

On top of that, they turned out to be a good choice because a pumpkin patch is not a clean place.  Depending on recent weather, it can be very dusty or muddy.  But the faux leather upper and rubber soles on our shoes didn’t require much maintenance and cleaned up easily.  #hallelujah

That said, my sneakers are an oldie but goodie from Old Navy and you might recognize my son’s cute pair from this outfit post.

Okay, enough about us.  Let’s talk about you!

What is your go-to fall uniform?

The plaid jackets are perfect! My older son has a green plaid jacket that’s lined with fleece and looks very similar to the ones you are wearing. We are still in the mid 80s here in SE Texas, but he will start using that once the weather cools off a bit.

You are both so cute! I have found that I am very picky with my plaid shirts and I really wear them if they are more like a shacket. So after donating mine in the last few years, I have added a plaid shacket last week that I am loving. Still on the lookout for one of medium weight that I will wear.
