One of the things I was looking forward to when we moved into our new house was a home office. For so long, I have been wanting a space I can call my own, and it finally happened last year in June. So, when I was thinking of how my little area would look like, I knew it had to bright, fun, and happy while also being functional and practical. I’ve slowly been working on bringing my vision to life with a mix of a few new pieces and several items that I already owned. While there are still some items I am looking into adding in the future, like this room rug, at this moment, it’s exactly how I wanted it. And, today, I am excited to take you on a tour of my home office/bedroom space.
Here we go!
After working from our dining room table for years, I knew it was finally time to get myself a computer table. When I saw this 4-cube storage desk from Mainstay at Walmart, I was absolutely smitten. I love the size and simple design. But what I really like about this table are the storage shelves. You can choose to leave the shelf as is or add a collapsible storage bin which come in many different colors and prints. The only downside to this is they are sold separately. For me, this wasn’t a deal breaker as I find the ability to change the look of my desk depending on mood or season priceless. Needless to say, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I went with yellow. As for my chair, it was a hand-me down from the hubby’s old office and to be honest, it felt out of place at first because of its color. That is, until, I added this pillow cover to one of our older pillows for added texture and visual interest.

From there, I knew that I needed something alongside my computer table to display my handbags. If you know me, you know that I am a handbag girl at heart and when I am not using mine, I want it to be on display. So, I needed a piece of furniture to do just that and this 9-cube storage organizer from Mainstay at Walmart was exactly what I was looking for. Not only do I love how it matches my computer table, but I love that the shelves have the space to fit the handbags I want to showcase. It adds a unique decorative touch as I change out my display. And if that wasn’t enough, I find the open shelving very handy for when I just need to grab a bag and go.

Once I was happy with my computer table and handbag case set up, I focused my attention on the bed that came with my room, and I debated whether it was something I wanted in my “office.” Initially, I had envisioned to set up my camera equipment in this corner of the room for the purpose of taking outfit photos. In the end, I decided to keep it because it’s a spot for my son to hang out in when he is in my room. He can sprawl all over without getting uncomfortable. So, I went on a mission to find a bed cover that would be comfortable yet consistent with the aesthetic of the room. I found this one on Amazon, and I couldn’t be happier with the price and quality. Also, the colors are beautiful and complement the rest of furniture and décor in the room.

Lastly, next to the bed was a spot that I hemmed and hawed about. I didn’t want to fill it just for the sake of putting something there. But it also felt like a waste of space if I didn’t. Since I love to read, the idea of creating a reading nook came to mind. My aunt gave us this comfy chair a few years ago and it was perfect there. And, just as I have done with my desk chair, I added visual interest by adding a pillow with this pillow cover to this one as well. Then I added this multicolor five-light floor lamp which I’ve had forever. It gives this space such a fun vibe! Of course, there’s no reading without a bookshelf. To tie everything together, I filled in the empty spaces with more handbags and other goodies that I have accumulated over the years.

And, that’s a wrap!
