Coach has been killing it lately with their new releases and I am nothing but impressed. There’s just so many bags of theirs that have caught my eye that I want. So, last month, I headed to their outlet store to look and while I was browsing through all the goodies, I came across the Coach Mini Rowan Satchel Bag. From its size, silhouette, and color, I was instantly drawn to its cute profile, and I knew I wanted to add one to my handbag collection. Today, I figured it was the perfect time to share my first impressions review, including pros and cons, as well as my verdict on the bag.
Let’s get right into it and kick things off with the pros.
From a design standpoint, I can’t say enough good things about the style of this bag. The silhouette is simple yet appealing and very classic. It is reminiscent of the iconic the Louis Vuitton Speedy 20, Gucci Ophidia Boston Bag, and of course, my beloved Alexander Wang Mini Rockie. But besides its shape, the bag’s mini size also adds to its appeal and, in my opinion, make it stand out.

With that in mind, I opted for the mini size because it fits my lifestyle the best. While the bag may appear petite, the inside is roomy, easy to navigate and have more than enough space to hold my essentials. Inside, there’s one large main compartment with 2 built-in card slots and it is lined with fabric.
But, apart from the size, I am also fan of the cross-grain leather that the Coach Mini Rowan Satchel Bag is made of. Not only is it soft to the touch but when you look closely, it has a nice, pebbled, grained texture to it. So, unlike my other bags made of smooth leather, the Coach Mini Rowan Satchel Bag is more resilient to scuffs and scratches which is a huge plus especially given the color I chose.

Speaking of which, I have been wanting to hop onto the white leather handbag train for a while now. When it came to deciding on which color to pick, the choice was easy and bought it in the chalk colorway.
In terms of functionality, the Coach Mini Rowan Satchel Bag has two double rolled handles and come with an adjustable removable strap. It also has a zipper closure that open and close halfway on the sides which allows the bag to open wide. So, no digging required! What’s more, regardless of what you place inside, because of the bag’s sturdy structure, it holds its shape and can stand on its own.

Now for the cons.
One of the downsides of the bag is the top handle drop. It measures at 2.75” and is fairly shallow. Though, I have no issues with it fitting on the crook of my arm, it may be a tad awkward for some and unfortunately, takes away from the versatility of the bag.
Along those lines, I’m 5’0 and find the length of the removable, adjustable shoulder strap to be a bit long. Even on the shortest setting, the bag sits lower on my body than what I would like. So, to my fellow shorties, beware!

As far as durability goes, it’s a bit too early to comment on the wear and tear of the Coach Mini Rowan Satchel Bag. But I think it is worth mentioning that, in addition to the handle and strap drop, the color on this bag, can be seen as a pro or con. That’s because, a light-colored handbag is more prone to attracting dirt and color transfer. So, if low maintenance is a priority for you then this is something to keep in mind.
Lastly, the bag didn’t come with a duster case. This is not a flaw of the product, it’s just a personal preference. When I am not using any of my bags or accessories, I like to keep it stored in their duster case.

Overall, while my Coach Mini Rowan Satchel Bag was an impulse purchase, it’s not something I regret. At its price point, it doesn’t lack quality, and I find the bag to be a great value. It’s truly an easy bag to wear and I love it for how functional it is. The color is beautiful and make her the perfect companion year-round. On that note, I don’t often buy multiples of one style, but this is a bag I wouldn’t be opposed to buying in another color. In fact, if Coach make this in yellow, #myfavoritecolor, and in this size, it would be an immediate add to cart!

This bag is seriously adorable! I love how it’s small but still fits all the essentials—such a win. The color combo is super cute too. Now I kinda want one for everyday errands and coffee runs!

Oh wow, that bag is the cutest. I love the colour for a start. It is perfect for the summer months. The style is lovely too with smooth sleek lines and a very feminine look. It is a great size and hopefully it will be nice and durable too, I know it’s too soon to tell at the moment.

I carried a satchel for years. Spilled a bottle of baby milk in it (traveling) and got rid of it. Switched to a different style. The makes me miss having one!

The Mini Rowan Satchel looks so classy and cute. I love how you described it fitting your lifestyle; as someone who’s always on the go, I can appreciate a bag that’s both stylish and functional!

I don’t have a bag like this, and I’m not sure a mini bag would be best. I tend to carry around my laptop and my kindle reader along with my glasses, sunglasses, wallet, and keys. The bag is super cute, though, and I would definitely go for it in a size large enough for all of that!

I’ve been eyeing this bag for a while, so it was helpful to see how much actually fits inside. Your note about the strap length was super useful—I’m petite too.
