Mommy & Me Outfit: Blue and Yellow Cardigan
In late October, my family and I went on a road trip to Santa Ynez Valley for a quick vacation. We desperately needed a change of scenery and it was just what we needed. We had such an amazing time and I seriously can’t wait to go back. I plan to share a complete re-cap of our trip soon. Until then, I thought it would be fun to share details on one of my favorite looks!
I don’t know about you, but I have yet to meet a stripe I didn’t like! Stripes are one of my favorite prints. There’s something so simplistic yet undeniably charming about this classic pattern. So, when I found this Madewell rainbow striped tee at Nordstrom last year, I couldn’t resist. I love everything about it – the fit, the colors, the material, and the length. Matter of fact, when I put this t-shirt on, I can’t help but be in a good mood. Since it has so many colors, it can go with just about any solid. And that’s exactly how this fun Mommy and Me look came to be!
Since I tend to wear a lot of blacks, browns and grey, I originally styled our outfit without our yellow and blue cardigans. While our bright colored shirts have lots of personality on its own, however, something felt amiss. So, I started playing around with pieces in our closets. It wasn’t until I spotted my little guy’s blue cardigan and paired it against his yellow shirt that I knew it was the missing piece. Quickly, I grabbed my yellow cardigan and needless to say, I might have done a little happy dance! Not only does our blue and yellow cardigans really pull our outfit together but the little buttons on my son’s blue cardigan and the front patch pockets on my yellow one adds the cutest touch. Don’t you agree?
As I wanted a casual outfit (no surprise there), I paired our outfits with jeans and sneakers. Finally, I added my trusty blue backpack from Kendall and Kylie. It that has proven to be one of the best sidekicks for a mom on the go! Of course, if you want a more-dressy look, you can swap the sneakers with some beige booties and the backpack with a clutch.
Overall, this is such an easy “throw on” outfit that can work for play dates, running errands, or for when you just want to feel comfortable, yet put together. The best part, these are looks that you can easily replicate with items already in your closet.
On a different note, I hope your week is off to a great start. On my end, I can’t contain my excitement! Although I always hate to see the weekend go, this week is the little guy’s last week of remote learning before his winter break. Two full weeks without homework sounds like heaven and I am SO ready!!
That said, the house is decorated, the gifts are wrapped, and we are ready to celebrate the season with our nearest and dearest albeit, from a distance. So, as I end this post, from the bottom of my heart, I wish each and every one of you a blessed Christmas.
