Mommy & Me: What We Wore in Temecula and Carlsbad

Last July, we went on a road trip to Southern California.  We were in Temecula for a day before heading to Carlsbad.  While there, the weather was an absolute dream only topping in the mid-70s.  It was such a treat for someone like me who isn’t quite a summer fan! But, apart from the weather, we spent time exploring, relaxing, and eating – exactly how a vacation should be.  As per usual, I’ll share a recap of all the details in a later post but today, I am sharing all the outfits we wore during our trip in Temecula and Carlsbad.

Let’s go!

Travel Day

I showed this chambray shirt years ago in a mommy and me double denim outfit, and recently, as an extra layer for covering your arms if you spend a lot of time outside.  This time around, I chose to wear it as a stand-alone piece and paired it with leggings for more comfort.  On my feet, I wore my trusty Old Navy white sneakers that I wear quite often and accessory wise, I brought along my Chloe mini-Faye backpack in Lemonade.  If this yellow backpack looks familiar, that’s because I also have it in black! Speaking of which, I wrote an entire blog post about all the pros and cons of the Chloe Faye mini backpack if you want a full breakdown.

For my son’s outfit – he is wearing an older yellow button up shirt and jogger pants from Shein.  The joggers are made of a soft fabric that’s super comfortable and easy to move in.  You can see it styled differently in this outfit post.  My son can be picky about the shoes he wears, so when I find something that works, I stick with it.  On his feet, he is wearing these Amazon slip-on sneakers that you’ve seen many times before and they are key to completing his travel outfit.

Winery Day

The next day, we had plans to go to Temecula to visit a few different wineries to celebrate our 14th year wedding anniversary.  So, of course, I took the opportunity to dress up and this Shein pleated dress was my outfit of choice.  In case you missed it, I’ve written a full review of this dress.  With it, I layered a sheer cropped cardigan on top for added texture and coverage.  From there, I paired neutral-colored accessories to compliment the brown hues of the dress.  My shoes are pretty old, but the sunglasses and YSL Toy LouLou handbag are new additions to my closet.

As for my little bestie, he coordinated with me with this cute brown and black shirt also from Shein.  With it, he is wearing a pair of black trousers that came from this Amazon suit set and these black dress shoes from the Children’s Place.  I also refreshed his eyewear and I hit the jackpot with this pair from Amazon.  It’s well made and fits my son’s face shape perfectly.

Beach Day

I know the title of this post says, “what we wore,” but it wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t document our day at the beach! So, even though, I have no pictures of what I wore this day, I did capture my son’s outfit.  And, for this fun beach day, he is wearing a light blue short-sleeved rash guard and a pair of swim shorts from Amazon.  While this is not a set, I love how the colors go well together.  Also, it might be a little hard to see, but the swim shorts have a train print on them.  Perfect for a train lover if you have one like I do! On his feet, he wore white water shoes to coordinate.

Legoland

We were up bright and early the next morning to go to Legoland.  While I knew it was going to be a long, hot day, I still wanted us to wear a cute amusement park outfit.  For me, I decided to wear this 2-in-1 asymmetrical top and cargo shorts from Shein.  Both were lightweight, comfortable, and breathable making them the perfect duo for a day out and about.  On my feet, I wore these high-top shoes from Levi’s.  My foot still has not healed from my injury three years ago and considering the amount of time I’d be walking and standing; I wanted a pair of shoes that has extra support.

On my son, he is wearing this adorable tie dye shirt from Shein, and I originally showed it in this post.  Since then, it has been worn and washed so many times, and I am happy to report, it still looks new.  With it, he is wearing a pair of jean shorts from The Children’s Place and the same Amazon sneakers worn in the first look.

Pool Day

And that brings us to our last full day in Carlsbad.

Most of the day was spent being lazy at the hotel and by the pool.  I wore the same outfit I wore on our way to SoCal, so I didn’t bother to photograph my outfit.  But I made sure to capture my little bestie enjoying his best life at the pool and yes, he wore the same outfit he wore on beach day! #outfitrepeatersunite

That sums up our outfits from our trip to Temecula and Carlsbad.
