School’s out for summer in our household which means no more homework – just fun! One of the things we are really looking forward to this summer is traveling and making more frequent visits to see family and friends. It’s way overdue and a bit crazy to realize that it’s been almost 2 years since we last got together or saw each other. In the meantime, we’ve been spending lots of time outside and soaking in the slower days. But enough about that! Today is the last Monday of the month which means I am back with our favorite post – monthly ramblings #4! Here’s the third post of this series in case you missed it. So, grab your favorite drink and without further ado, let’s get into it.
By now, you guys know, my family and I are very much homebodies. Exciting days usually include a trip to the park or a quick jaunt through the aisles of Costco and Target! So, when the hubby suggested we try a new restaurant for lunch, you better believe I got decked out in all my spring favorites. A jumpsuit is a wardrobe staple for me, and I’ve had this one from Amazon for two years. I love the color, v-neckline, and the fitted waist. It’s lightweight and runs TTS. I have it styled here for a casual day out. But you can certainly kick it up a notch, by pairing it with heels and a pretty clutch.
Jacket | Jumpsuit | Shoes | Bag | Sunglasses
Oh, my goodness! Seriously crushing on this bag. It’s simple and understated yet sleek and chic. I am excited to see what other colors will be produced this year.
My little man loves anything to do with trains, so I had to get this for him. Not only is the fabric good quality, but the graphic was also just as cute as the picture shows! Additionally, it fits well and looks good on. If you have a son or grandson who loves trains, this shirt is totally adorable. To be honest, the hardest part was choosing a color!
T-shirt | Jeans | Shoes | Hat | Sunglasses
Speaking of trains, my dad bought this train set for the little guy for his birthday two months ago, and he’s been playing with it every single day. Not only was this easy to assemble, but it’s got everything from lights and sounds and real looking steam. Just add water! Additionally, it comes with a whole scenery to set up with trees and signs.
Not all screen time is terrible. In many ways, it can be beneficial. The key is to find a quality educational program that help your kid(s) learn. For us, one of those programs that our family can agree on is called Algodoo.
If you aren’t familiar with Algodoo, it is a 2D physics sandbox. The program uses hands-on approach to promote creativity and problem-solving in a simulated world. And what I love about is that it encourages my son to try new things and to think outside the box to solve a problem. I love watching his eyes fill with wonder and excitement. I especially love seeing his creations come to life! In Algodoo, you are truly only limited by your own imagination.
You want to know what else I love about it? It’s free!
At our house, we love homemade pizza. It’s just a fun activity for the whole family and the outcome is always oh-so delicious!
I am not a huge pasta fan, but I love Pad Thai and I’d been having major cravings for it. So, I hit up our local Thai restaurant to indulge. Let me just say, it hit the spot! It’s packed with flavor and well worth every penny!
Burgers are my love language!
I came across this photo while I was working on clearing out my memory card. This was from Helwig Winery in Shenandoah Valley and one of the best burgers I’ve ever had!
On a different note, as mentioned above, I’ve been slowly making my way through the thousands of photos on my camera and computer. As it turns out, I have so many blog posts that I need to catch up on. Whoops! So instead of letting them get so far down on the to-do list, I figured I’d get my act together and start posting them next month. That said, there will not be a Monthly Ramblings post in June.
Now it’s your turn! What’s one random thing you are loving lately, dying to try out or looking forward to?

Welcome to summer 2022! I have three more weeks before joining you and I am looking forward to it. That train that your little guy got looks awesome, I kind of wish I had someone in my life to buy it for. Also, that pad thai dish is making my mouth water. We rarely go out for lunch/dinner but that would be a great idea maybe for the upcoming weekend. I am looking forward to seeing what you guys get up to over the next couple of months.

Yum, yum! I love your jumpsuit outfit and your cute little hairstyle! It’s interesting the boys are interested in train sets right now after the large train set we saw in New Orleans at the botanical gardens.

Your jumpsuit is so cute Maureen, and I love the casual way you wore it.
My younger son loved trains too – Thomas the Tank Engine to be specific. He liked building the tracks and regularly asked for wooden tracks for his birthday and Christmas. We’d give him a huge box of wooden tracks and he’d be so happy!
Enjoy summer with your little guy – have fun taking a break from school work!
