I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

In our neck of the woods, things were low key.  With the temperatures predicted to be in the triple digits, it was hard to make any plans.  Instead we chilled and caught up on tons of little to do’s around the house. I also went for a run Sunday morning just a few minutes after sunrise and it was exactly what I needed. It felt so peaceful. Other than that, the little man and I are getting ready to visit my parents this week in the Bay Area for a little staycation. We are excited for the change of scenery!

On another note, given the state of our world, I was convinced that my favorite sale of the year was cancelled.  So, when Nordstrom announced in July that they will continue to hold their annual Anniversary Sale albeit postponed until August, I couldn’t wait! I know that many of you might not be up for it for obvious reasons, but for some, I know I am not alone in saying, it’s a nice distraction from all the heaviness we are feeling right now.  

That said, I have been shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for a few years now and it’s become something I look forward to each year.  For me, the sale is an opportunity to invest in an item that I know I’ll use for years to come.  But before we get any further, I know how overwhelming the sale can be to navigate when everyone is talking about it.  So, rather than telling you to buy all the sweaters and every pair of boots today, I am only sharing four things that I already have, used and would re-buy.* These are items that I consider wardrobe staples and in my opinion, are well worth the investment.

*Many of the sale items appear year after year, albeit a slightly different version. So if you are unable to shop the sale this year, don’t sweat it. It’ll be back next year!

Let’s dive in…  

Handbag

I am a handbag girl.  They are my favorite item to splurge on.  Though my collection consists of mostly mini sized bags, I do own a couple of few larger totes.  

Enter Longchamp.

I’ll admit that I wasn’t quite sold on these bags when it started to get popular.  The thought of buying a handbag that was nylon for over $100 was a little insane to me.  But I was completely wrong. 

While both of my Longchamp bags were gifts from my parents, I have owned both bags for over 8 years (beige) and 6 years (cobalt), respectively.  From running errands to international trips, both of my Longchamp Le Pliage has done it all! It is the easiest bag to wear and the most lightweight bag I own thanks to the nylon fabric it is made of.  It’s practically indestructible.  Not to mention, roomy.  The best part, when not in use you can fold it up quite small to store it.  

If you are in the market for a handbag that will stand the test of time and use, look no further than Longchamp.  You will not be disappointed. This year Nordstrom is offering an expandable version.

Outerwear

For those cold days, a puffer jacket is a must.  Hands down, my go-to is this Bernardo Outerwear that I purchased from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last year.  I turn to it often and it has become my best friend during the winter season or any chilly day.  

With EcoPlume insulation, a water repellant finish, a feminine silhouette, and zippered pockets, it has all the qualities I look for in a jacket.  Not to mention, it is easily packable, and lightweight.  

So, if you’ve been thinking about investing in a cold weather outerwear, I couldn’t recommend Bernardo enough.  

For sizing and fit, I went with my regular size, XS, and it fits perfectly.  I can even wear a sweater underneath and can still zip it up.  But if you want a bit more wiggle room, I suggest sizing up. 

Footwear

I am not a shoe person.  It’s the last thing I shop for.  But when I came across these Blondo booties, I couldn’t pass it up.  They seriously had me at waterproof! I can’t tell you how many times I have been caught in the rain and got soggy feet! Not to mention, ruined shoes.   

My ankle booties are a closet staple and truly go with anything.  The low heel is just the right height and it did not require breaking in.  I was able to walk around in them all day right out of the box.  The best part, its versatility.  You can wear these booties now with your summer outfits – but transition them into fall with jeans or a sweater dress later.  

If you are looking for a simple classic bootie that goes with everything, this is it! My Blondo booties were from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale three years ago and I really love them.  

Jeans

Even though, I am a jeans and tee girl at heart, I have a love/hate relationship with jeans.  To me, they are the one piece of clothing item that has given me a lot of grief.  With a thicker waist and muscular thighs, finding jeans that fit has always been a struggle.  So, when I stumbled upon STS Blue during a sale at Nordstrom, I decided to go for it.  

Not only do I own three pairs of jeans by this brand, but they have become my go-to. They fit great.  They have just the right amount of stretch which makes them comfortable to wear all day.  That also means that they don’t lose their shape like some jeans tend do so. 

Speaking of fit, I am a size 26 and they are very much true to size.  

If you are in the market for a great jeans brand that isn’t crazy expensive, then you can’t wrong with a pair from STS Blue.
