One of the best parts of having a blog is the amazing people that I have met online. Monica of Jersey Girl Texan Heart is one of those amazing individuals. Even though we haven’t met in person, she’s someone who has a true “can do” attitude, someone who is always willing to share her knowledge to help inspire and empower and someone who always tell it like it is. She’s an incredible girl with a lot of heart and today is her birthday! In honor of this special time, myself and other blogger friends are sharing our thoughts on what advice we would tell our younger self. You can read about it here.
Speaking of giving advice, let’s talk about this outfit for a minute. I must admit, I didn’t always like the off the shoulder trend. I think it’s very beautiful on women but for me, I didn’t think it was something that I could pull off. Of course, that was until I found this top!
This paisley print off the shoulder top is 4 years old and it is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. I have worn this top on many occasions because it is so comfy and easy to wear. Believe it or not, off the shoulder tops are the perfect fashion staple that is not only fun, but also a sexy and unique statement piece. An off the shoulder exposes just the right amount of skin without being over the top. Let’s be honest – I find showing off my shoulders is much less intimidating than showing off my not so perfect abs! And let’s not forget about its versatility. You can choose to dress it up with some heels and accessories or to look super casual just like I have styled for this post. By now you can see I wear most of my outfits with jeans because it stays true to my simple and casual style. To finish off my look, I added my favorite black sandals and burgundy cross body bag which compliment the red color of the top nicely.
It took me quite some time to jump on the off the shoulder bandwagon, but I am glad I gave it a chance. Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and try something new. The worst thing that can happen is you try something new and you don’t like it.
What about you? What’s the one thing you have always wanted to try but haven’t yet?

I don’t know how I missed this post, Maureen!!
And yes, that shirt is so fabulous on you. I think as we get older we start to learn we should never say never to things. Including clothes. Sure, one piece may not work for us, but you don’t throw the baby out with the bath water (that’s a really old saying…maybe you’ve never heard it before??)

What a pretty off the shoulder top! I love the colors and print. I also wasn’t sure about wearing off the shoulder tops at first since I wasn’t used to showing that much skin. But I did like that it wasn’t over the top and ended up really liking the style!

Off the shoulder tops really are so versatile and the perfect amount of edgy and sexy. Most women have nice shoulders so they’re easy to pull off. Lol. Literally and figuratively. Super cute. Happy weekend!!!

Love that top on you. You’re right, it’s a great way to wear something a little fun and a little sexy, but that’s still appropriate for a grown up. My midriff baring days are over.

You totally rock the OTS look girl it’s hard to believe that you were ever unsure of it. I do understand though as I too am off/on with it mostly because it’s difficult to find the right strapless bra. I am looking forward to your advice. Have a fun weekend.

This top just looks gorgeous on you! I always get a little annoyed with OTS tops, because they keep running up. But, I’ll wear them occasionally and I don’t mind them as much in dresses.
