Last April, we took a family trip to Santa Barbara, and minus a few clouds, the weather was perfect. We spent 7 days there (including travel days) and had a blast making memories. As always, I’ll be sharing all those details in my travel diary. In the meantime, I’ve been slowly making my way through the hundreds of photos we shot in Santa Barbara and thought it would be fun to share all the outfits we wore throughout our week’s stay.
We had a long drive so something comfy was a must. I almost always travel with a sweatshirt on because I get cold easily and I’ve posted this blue graphic one before. It’s one of my go-to comfy pieces! I’ve worn it with jeans but decided to pair it with Spanx leggings this time around.
For my son’s outfit – this old two-piece set from Old Navy was a no brainer. It was the perfect travel look because not only was he comfortable, but it was also non-restrictive. I layered it with this fun yellow graphic tee underneath.
Of course, an outfit isn’t complete without accessories, so we tossed on our matching baseball cap and wore our trusty white sneakers. On top of that, I brought along one of my mini backpacks – Chloe Faye.
On me: Sweatshirt | Leggings | Shoes | Hat | Backpack | Sunglasses
On my son: Hoodie | Joggers | T-shirt | Hat | Sunglasses
On our first day in Santa Barbara, we visited the train museum, so obviously an outfit with matching overall was in order. I’ve owned this pair for a couple of years now. They are super comfortable with the perfect amount of stretch and a white bodysuit was all I needed up top. This one is old from Francescas and was the perfect piece to coordinate with my little guy.
Speaking of, on my little guy, he is wearing an old pair overall from Amazon and underneath, he’s got on this shirt that I bought for him for his Art Birthday Party two years ago. The colors are so fun, and I love how it can be easily mix and matched with all kinds of other items. You can see it styled differently in this outfit post.
As for shoes, you guessed it, we both wore our white sneakers yet again!
On me: Overalls | Bodysuit | Shoes | Sunglasses
On my son: Overalls | T-shirt | Shoes | Sunglasses
Although, a little dressy for the restaurant we went to, this was one of the cutest outfits of our trip!
My dress is from Amazon and it’s truly the perfect spring break piece. This style of dress is my favorite and I love everything about it from the cut to the color was perfect for our outing. I wrote an entire review about all the pros and cons of this dress if you want a full breakdown. I kept things simple by tossing on a pair of nude sandals that are old and carrying my new straw bag from Shein to complete the look.
As for my son’s outfit, he is wearing a colorful dinosaur shirt from Shein and I first featured this shirt in this outfit post. This time around, I paired it with these blue pants from The Children’s Place instead of grey. To tie in our Mommy and Me outfit together I added a cute straw hat and yellow shoes to the mix!
On me: Dress | Sandals | Bag | Sunglasses
On my son: Shirt | Pants | Shoes | Hat | Sunglasses
For a day spent on the sand, I kept it casual and wore a few of my favorite items that I always repeat when I am at the beach: a hat, a t-shirt, and denim shorts (not pictured). But you can see a similar look in this post. I also always have this tote with me when I travel because it fits everything. It’s large enough to fit a change of clothes and all our extra stuff in. Once we left the beach, I changed into skinny jeans to give me a little more warmth. This pair is from STS and hands down my favorite pair in my collection.
On my little guy, he wore this one-piece swimsuit from Shein. The print is adorable, and the longer sleeves were perfect from protecting his skin from the sun. For post-beach activities, he changed into this graphic train t-shirt from Amazon with jeans. As per usual, we slipped into our white sneakers and kept our matching hats on. I love how it bookends our look!

When I got this matching tie dye look from PatPat, I knew it’d be coming with us to Santa Barbara. We wore this easy little matching outfit on Tuesday morning to grab brunch and explore downtown. Let me just say, it is insanely comfortable and flattering. The colors are so fun, and it’s one of those pieces you want to wear again and again. Since I wanted to play off the white color on our outfits, I had my son pair his t-shirt with white shorts, and we wore our looks with white sneakers. Then, for a little contrast, we added our straw hat and bag for accessories. In my opinion, fun yet simple and we scored tons of compliments.

As the weather was threatening rain the next day, we headed back to the beach to enjoy the last day of sunshine. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with a striped jumpsuit. It seriously feels like pajamas and this one is almost 3 years old. What I love the most about this jumpsuit is that not only does it work as a cover up, but it can also be worn to dinner or an event. You can see them dressed up a little more in this outfit post. Of course, to keep things beachy, I popped on one of my favorite graphic tees from Old Navy over the top. Here I am wearing that straw sandal + bag duo yet again.
For my son’s outfit – he wore this different one-piece swimsuit. Once we left the beach, he changed into this palm button shirt again from Shein. Since it was a bit briskier on this day, I layered with an older yellow long sleeve and jeans.

Well, that’s a wrap on the outfits we wore in Santa Barbara. I hope this gave you a little bit of outfit inspiration for your next travels! I’ll be rounding up our trip soon if you’re interested in what we did while visiting SB, so check back soon!
