Happy 2023! 

I can’t believe another year is behind us.  I hope the first week treated you well and transitioning back to life as usual was a smooth one.  In my neck of the woods, last week marked the first day of back to school and work after a two-week break.  So, it’s been a crazy few days trying to find our rhythm.  

On a different note, if you’ve been reading my blog for some time, then you probably already know I am obsessed with Shein.  From their adorable home décor to their fun accessories to their affordable clothing, it has become my very favorite place to shop at.  I find so many great pieces for both myself and the little guy from there and I can honestly say that just about 80% of our wardrobe consists of Shein finds.  

A couple of months ago, I picked up some super cute pieces for our fall and winter wardrobe.  One of those gems is this color block sweater dress and it’s my second sweater dress that I’ve bought there.  I also have this yellow one that I love so much and reviewed on the blog last year.  So, today, I thought it would be fitting to share my honest review on this fun sweater dress with you.  

Size

First, let’s talk about the size.  

Sweater dresses are tricky because they are either form fitting or oversized.  This one is the perfect combination of an easy fit while still being fitted*.  It nips in at the waist just a bit to give it shape but doesn’t hug the body too tight.  Additionally, the pockets sit flat against the dress and does not add any extra bulk and the length falls an inch or so above the knee on my 5’0 frame.  

(*Size note: I normally wear a S in this brand, but I am kind of in-between sizes on this color block sweater dress.  So, I sized up to a M for more wiggle room in the waist.  If you have narrow hips, stick with your usual size).

Material

In terms of fabric, this color block sweater dress is 100% polyester and has a chunky knit to it, so it has nice flow and drape.  It also gives the dress texture which makes it perfect for hiding some of those love handles! #yesplease Additionally, the fabric isn’t itchy, rough, or bulky and it’s so comfortable to wear.  In fact, it makes me feel like I am wrapped up in a cozy blanket.  On top of that, its medium weight which makes it perfect for spring, fall and winter.  

Color

As for color, I had a hard time deciding which one to go with, but I ultimately went with the olive color combination.  I love how it mixes grey, yellow, burgundy and white.  In my opinion, it’s an unexpected color combination that is beautiful.  But if this color block combo isn’t your jam, it does come in two other color combination as well.  

Final Thoughts

All in all, this color block sweater dress from Shein doesn’t disappoint.  Not only is this sweater dress so easy to wear but it has little details that make it both unexpected, and incredibly chic. #hellopockets And I love that it works for so many occasions. Speaking of I wore this sweater dress for a low-key afternoon outing while we were in Lodi in November and paired this look with my trusty white kicks for that laid-back, casual feel.  But fret not, this sweater dress could most definitely be dressed up with ankle bootie or knee boot, a clutch and faux leather jacket for a night out as well.
