Our Afternoon at Michael David Winery in Lodi

As you know, I love birthdays.  It’s a day to celebrate life, and in my opinion, the most special day of the whole year.  November marks the hubby’s birthday month, and when it comes to his special day, he is fairly easy.

Last year, he was craving Mediterranean food so, we ventured to Walnut Creek, and celebrated at Opa! This year, he wanted a wine destination where he could enjoy the sun and relax so, we chose to go to Lodi and made our way to a winery called Michael David in town.  What a gem it turned out to be! Not only was the ambiance amazing and the grounds beautiful but they also have an on-site café, bistro, a small farm, and a large fenced-in area with a playground for those with kids in tow like us.  Today, I thought I’d share a quick recap of our afternoon at Michael David Winery in Lodi and the simple way we celebrated.

Once we arrived at Michael David, we were immediately greeted and were seated right away.  Our table was in a cute little spot next to one of their water features*.  It gave us a panoramic view of their patio and garden area. On top of that, it was the perfect setting for an outdoor lunch.

(*Side note: As with most wineries, seating is first come, first serve.  However, Michael David also offers reserved seating for bistro and bottle service during the weekends from March through November for a 2-hour time slot which is what I did.  So, if you have a special occasion to celebrate, I highly recommend going this route.  Not only do you get a designated server, but they let you pick where you are going to sit on the reservation).

From there, we meandered through the vineyards and of course, to snap photos on their property.  Oh, boy, every area is picture worthy, and I loved all the pumpkin décor mixed in throughout!

Then our afternoon lunch started off with a bottle of the Michael David Sauvignon Blanc, followed by pepperoni pizza.  As I mentioned before, I am not a huge drinker, but I did try their wine, and had a few sips.  I am happy to report that I loved it.  It was very drinkable, and a nice afternoon treat! If I had to describe it, I would say crisp and refreshing!

Next, we worked our way to their sandwiches.   We ordered the turkey pesto and tri-tip paninis.  Both came with a side of potato salad and everything we ate was delicious! The only thing I regret is not ordering the fig & prosciutto pizza.  I’ll have to do that next time because I am still thinking about it a month later.

Beyond that, let’s just say there was a lot of lounging!

All in all, our afternoon at Michael David Winery in Lodi couldn’t have been more perfect.  We had the best time, and most importantly, the hubs was smiling from ear to ear.

Before signing off, I wanted to take a moment to wish you a very Merry Christmas! May God’s peace, joy and goodwill be with you and your loved ones. See you all after the New Years and have a wonderful and safe holiday.

This sounds like the perfect birthday celebration to me. I love me a good wine, sunny days outdoors, and a beautiful ambiance like this. It truly looks beautiful and I love that you always find a way to include your little guy, and with all the fall vibes, the playground and beautiful green spaces, I can see that there was lots of space for him to enjoy. Happy belated birthday to your husband. Also, Merry Christmas and/or happy holidays.
