A Cute Valentine’s Day School Outfit

Last October, my little bestie shared a fun school dress up day outfit idea with you guys.  This month, he is back to share a last-minute idea for a cute Valentine’s inspired look that is great for school, church, and everything in-between.  The best part is that it’s a fail proof outfit combination your son can recreate with any similar items he already own.  That said, let’s break down the whole look and kick things off with this red cardigan.

Cardigan

Cardigans are a favorite wardrobe staple in our closet.  It’s a timeless, versatile piece that can be worn year after year.  In fact, since purchasing this, my son has worn it so many times already.  Whether he is wearing it unbuttoned with a graphic tee or buttoned up layered over his favorite jeans, it’s always on repeat. Now, with February 14th just around the corner, it is perfectly festive! The gorgeous red color elevates any outfit and a great piece to wear to step up his Valentine’s Day style at school.

Button-up Shirt

I can’t resist a good button up shirt, and it’s one of my favorite ways to dress up my son’s outfit.  For Valentine’s Day, I chose a white long-sleeved button up shirt and this one from the Children’s Place work year-round.  The style is classic, has an easy fit and the fabric is soft and lightweight.  Not to mention, very versatile. It can be worn by itself, unbuttoned with a t-shirt underneath, or layered under a cardigan or a denim jacket. I love that it’s slightly unexpected and add that laid-back cool vibe.

Pants

Of course, a Valentine’s Day outfit requires something a little nicer than jeans, and I find the easiest way to dress up any outfit is to add a pair of black pants. These ones are also from the Children’s Place and a great alternative to your son’s basic pair of denim.  They are very comfortable, and the material is soft and sturdy but not at all stiff. It also has tabs at the waist that you can adjust to looser or tighter setting. So, if you do have a child that is more on the thin side like I do, you can customize it to fit more in the waist. On top of that, they look great paired with anything from dress shoes to sneakers.

Shoes

Speaking of I love these Glenn sneakers from Target and, in my opinion, are the perfect shoe to complete this cute Valentine’s Day school outfit. It is casual enough for everyday wear but not so much that they couldn’t be paired with a dressier outfit. They are very comfortable right out of the box and can keep up with my son’s energetic personality! #hellodirt What’s more, I like that these shoes also zip up the side. So, they are easy to get on and off.

On a different note, I am back today from my mini blog break. In case you missed it, I intentionally took some time away from the blog in the month of January. I had recently accepted a job offer at one of our local elementary schools and wanted to focus on adjusting to my new role. I wasn’t sure how I was going to handle it, but I am happy to report that my transition couldn’t have gone more smoothly. It is refreshing to be part of a work environment that not only make me feel at home but engaged and fulfilled at the same time. I know a few of you have expressed your interest in a job update so I will share that soon.

In other news, I found the Hogarth Shakespeare series on accident and was intrigued! I am now on the fourth book, New Boy by Tracy Chevalier and I am enjoying her take on the Shakespearean classic, Othello. If you need something new to read, I highly recommend.

So, tell me, what fun plans does everyone have this Valentine’s Day?

Aaahhhh what a cutie. I love the Valentine’s Day outfit you featured. We don’t have any cardigans. I don’t see them in shops for boys for some reason. They can be handy to have though especially when it’s chilly.
