Gladiator Sandals

Getting out for a date has become a rare occurrence in this household and that’s not because we don’t think dates are important.  Matter of fact, just the opposite.  However, unless it’s family, I am not comfortable leaving my son with people who I don’t really know.  It’s only when we are visiting family or when family is visiting us that the hubby and I tend to go out.  So, when my parents offered to watch our little man while they were in town recently, we literally jumped at the chance!

Since it’s been extremely hot lately, you really can’t go wrong with a pretty sundress and all you need to add is a great pair of sandals! In my opinion, gladiator sandals are the ultimate hot weather footwear and I consider them a style essential.  When I saw this pair of gladiator sandals at Forever 21 a couple of years ago, it was love at first sight! Not only are they comfortable and easy to wear but this type of sandal is very bohemian in appeal and adds a laid back, playful look to whatever you are wearing! I find them especially cute when paired with shorts, rompers or a flowy dress just like I have styled for this post.  The back zip on these beauties make them super easy to put on and take off and the faux leather lace up is also adjustable for extra added comfort.  With that said, I kept my accessories simple, with only adding one of my favorite black cross body bag and sunglasses, making sure that the sandals become the focal point of my outfit.

This pair is unfortunately old, but I have linked a very similar style for you though that is less than $30.  It is available in black, cognac and white color.  And, in case you are in the market for some other cute options, I am sharing more favorites below at different price points.

Do you own a pair of gladiator sandals? If so, how would you wear yours? If not, do you see yourself wearing one?

I don’t own any but I’ve seen them on you before and you rock them girl! (and make me want to rock them too) How cute is this location and that sweet bus?!? Amazing. I hope you and your husband enjoyed a little time on your own. I am so fortunate to have parents who live in the city and extended family so we’ve always been able to have an evening out without too much of a worry.

I love your look Maureen with the lace up gladiators. I have several pairs of Jambu gladiator sandals but not the kind you lace up to your knee. Your striped tee dress looks adorable and oh so cool for the hot days in the summer! Love the picture of you in the tree contemplating your day! That is a cool tree. As your son gets a bit older, you may feel more comfortable going out.
    Have a great weekend!

Yeah I don’t blame you for not wanting to leave your child with people you don’t know. And yes a gladiator sandal can really take a basic dress to the next level

Maureen you are rocking these gladiators! I love the stripes in your dress and the straps in the sandals – such a good look and super cute for a date night! I don’t blame you about not wanting to leave your son with just anyone. Things will change as he gets older but you have to do what is right for you and your family – you don’t get second chances! We always did things with our boys and then as they got older we found ourselves alone a lot so it was always date night and we didn’t have to pay a sitter!
