I don’t know about you, but Halloween is one of our favorite holidays! From putting up spooky decoration to making festive treats, to matching Halloween costumes, what’s not to love? So, in honor of this spook-tacular holiday, I’ve dedicated the sixth edition of my monthly ramblings post to sharing some Halloween favorites from years past along with new items mixed in as well. But, before we get started, I thought I’d let you know that as much as we love Halloween, we are not a fan of anything too scary or gory. So, you won’t see any blood or anything that would cause nightmares in these pics. We are all about fun, whimsical kid-friendly Halloween and prefer a touch of cutesy over creepy.
That said, let’s dive in!
First up, Halloween themed clothing!
You all know we adore a good festive tee and sweatshirts so, come October, you can find the little guy and I sporting our Halloween attire all month long!
I bought this Boo Boo Crew shirt two years ago from Amazon and it is one of my favorite graphic tees. The design is super adorable, and a cute way to have a bit of fashion fun this October!
As you all know, I am a huge fan of Mommy and Me fashion, and I am lucky that my little guy will still coordinate with me. So, when I came across these sweatshirts last year from Shein, I knew I had to add them to our wardrobe arsenal. We’ve worn it running errands, on play dates and even to the pumpkin patch! Best of all, they are a great option if you don’t want to wear a costume but still want to show a little Halloween spirit!
The little guy needed some new cozy pieces, and this set is a new addition from Shein. It’s colorful and features several happy ghosts, pumpkins, and witches hat floating around. I love that it’s a complete outfit that he can wear as one or mix and match with other items he already has in his closet. I wish they made it in my size! #ineverwanttogrowup
Next, I wanted to show you all a few of the Halloween touches we have out at our house. Per usual, rather than spreading Halloween decorations around everywhere, I focused my energy on one area inside and outside our home. That said, the front porch and living room are pretty much the only areas that change with the holidays around here. So, these first set of photos is from our front door. It’s an easy place ready to be spooked and sets a fun stage to greet all the trick-or-treaters.
To the right of our front door, we have a scarecrow that is several years old. She was a Dollar store find and still going strong! To the left, we have a ghost inflatable that we bought last year from Amazon, and I love how it instantly adds a frighteningly cute vibe to our front door. This year I decided to add hay bales into the mix and picked up three on a recent shopping trip to Walmart. But that’s not all that came home with me. This poseable skeleton whom I’ve named, Jeffrey, also followed me home!
After the front door, the next best place for holiday décor is the living room! It’s right when you come in the front door, and we walk by it all the time. So, it made sense to make our dining table the focal point. And there’s nothing like cobwebs, Dada Humphreys, his baby spiders, bats, gauzy cloth, a basket of pumpkins of various design and sizes as well as a couple of battery-operated candles to do just that. TA-DA!
In another part of the living room…
Our small accent table and two armchairs got a little Halloween makeover as well. Again, with a few simple supplies like another set of gauzy cloth, more battery-operated candles, my parents’ animated candy holder and sparkly spiders, it’s all set for greeting unsuspecting guests!
A new addition to our decor this year are these pillow covers. I bought them last month from Shein and it’s such a simple way to add Halloween touch without having to do too much.
Moving on to delicious goodies…
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that cooking or baking at home is an activity my little guy and I enjoy doing together. So, when October rolls around, we are all about making festive sweet treats! We like to focus on simple and easy recipes that doesn’t require a ton of ingredients. That way we can enjoy the process and not get too caught up in the details. And it doesn’t get any easier than ghost sugar cookies mummy cupcakes, spider donuts and ghost pretzels.
This year, we decided on graveyard puddings and followed this recipe. They are fun to make, and even more fun to eat. Yum yum!
Of course, it just isn’t Halloween without a fun family costume, am I right?
Besides all the cute decorations and yummy goodies, the best part of spooky season, in my opinion, is dressing up. Ever since my little guy and I started Mommy and Me themed costumes a few years ago, it has become a fun tradition. In the past, we dressed up as a Roman Queen & Gladiator, a Cop & Robber, and as a Baker and Cupcake.
This year, my son and I decided to make our costumes. To say we are excited to parade around in it is an understatement! Stay tuned for all the details.
Now it’s your turn!
Have you added any Halloween touches to your home? What’s your favorite candy? Do you do family costume? Let me know in the comments!

There is nothing much to be excited about the Halloween celebration in the Philippines. Maybe it is about our culture that we give so much importance to our departed loved ones. There are no fancy decorations at home, but the family gather for a nice dinner after visiting our departed family members in the cemetery.
