Mommy & Me Outfit: Halloween 2022

I love Halloween, and I love having a little one who is as into dressing up as I am.  Ever since we started Mommy and Me themed costumes a few years ago, it has become a fun tradition and it’s seriously my favorite thing to do with my little bestie.  In year’s past, we dressed up as a Roman Queen & Gladiator, twice as a Cop & Robber, and as a Baker and Cupcake.  For Halloween 2022, it was a train themed for us.  Let me just say, these costumes are my favorite costumes yet.  Not only did we have so much fun planning them and putting them together, but our train costume was such a hit! We scored tons of compliments and we even won first place in the family category in a costume contest at the Kidz Town Halloween Hay Day Event in Livermore.  But what’s even better than that is my son loved it and he was beaming every time he got to show-off our costume. #priceless

Last month, I shared each part of our DIY train themed costume ideas and, today, I am sharing the final post in our 3-part train costume series.  This post will cover the process of how we put it all together aka our outfits! So, if you missed my previous posts, make sure to catch up and read them here:  Part 1: DIY Train Engine Halloween Costume Tutorial and Part 2: DIY Train Coal Car Halloween Costume Tutorial.

That said, I wanted to take a minute to chat about why we chose this theme.

It’s no secret that my son is obsessed with trains.  Like, seriously obsessed! Whether it’s playing with his favorite train set, watching train shows on repeat, or seeing them pass by, he can’t get enough of them.  So, when it came time to plan our Halloween costumes, it was only natural that my little guy and I dressed up as a train engine and a coal car.  In fact, the little guy was over the moon that we were making a train engine into a real-life costume.  #dreamsdocometrue

Hence, the Boo Express was born!

Now for a little on our looks.

For my son’s outfit, I pieced together this train engineer costume using pieces from his closet.  He already had the long black sleeved top, black shoes, black knitted beanie, and the overallsYou can see it styled differently in this outfit post.  Of course, if it’s warmer where you are, there is also a short sleeve option.  Add a red bandana and done!

As for my mommy Halloween outfit, basically, all I needed was a long black sleeved top, black pants, and black sneakers.

Then to finish off both of our costumes, I added our spooky glasses from last year into the mix.

And that’s a wrap! We loved putting these together and I hope they inspire you to dress up as a family this year.

Do you and your little one(s) dress in theme?

Cute Costumes! I love Halloween, it’s probably my favorite day of the year because everyone gets a chance to dress up and it’s so much fun. This year I went out as Batman which is one of my favorite capped heroes. It snowed Halloween this year so I was thankful for the mask that kept the snow off my head and these toasted warm Capezio dance tights that I borrowed from my sister.
