I don’t have a lot of events and occasions to dress for, so I really don’t have a lot of need for special occasion outfits, and I was skeptical about purchasing this one.  But something about this dress called to me and I took a chance on it.  To my surprise, this dress is an absolute dream.  Between the rich color, textured lace fabric and feminine silhouette, this is one incredible piece.  But what’s most surprising about this dress is its versatility.  The shape and style of it make it perfect for casual and formal occasions alike.  And now that I’ve had a chance to wear it, I wanted to share my overall opinion and review of this Shein Zip Back Lace Formal Dress.

Let’s get right to it!

Size

There’s something magical about the cut of this dress and I love how it fits me perfectly! I am wearing this dress in small, and I would say it runs true to size*.  It is easy to get on and off with a zipper up the back and I like that it allows for a closed fit through the waist without drawing undue attention to the belly area.  

(*Size note: As someone who’s gained weight in the past year, the waist is just a tiny bit snug, but it fit so well everywhere else that I wouldn’t size up.)

At 5’0, the length of the dress falls a couple of inches below the knee and the skirt has an adorable, flared hem.

Beyond that, this lace dress is fully lined from the chest down though it is thin, so I recommend wearing nude undergarments under this one.  I wear these reusable nippies and this base short to avoid any see-through issues.  

Material

In terms of material, this Shein Zip Back Formal Lace Dress is made from 100% polyester, and this is one of my favorite fabrics to wear.  Not only does the fabric flow nicely over your body but it doesn’t cling.  #hallelujah On top of that, it doesn’t wrinkle easily, is incredibly comfortable, and super lightweight making it perfect for warmer weather.  I actually wore this dress on an 80+ degree day on our recent visit to Michael David Winery in Lodi for Mother’s Day and it kept me cool and comfy.

Color

This Shein Zip Back Lace Formal Dress comes in a ton of different colors, but I was drawn to the yellow.  In case you couldn’t tell, I love this color! It’s such a bright, cheery, and fun shade that definitely packs a punch.  In fact, I dare you to be in a foul mood while wearing this hue.  #doubledare Of course, if yellow isn’t your jam, it comes in dusty pink, baby blue, green, red violet, and white color.  What’s more, the white would be really cute for graduation, engagement photos, or even a baby shower. Do you agree?

Final Thoughts

All in all, a big YES to this Shein Zip Back Formal Lace Dress.  I wear pants more than dresses for sure, but sometimes a dress just sounds so easy and breezy, and I am so happy I gave this dress a chance.  The style is incredibly versatile.  It’s elegant enough to wear to a graduation, wedding, or work event with heels and a clutch but is also easy enough to dress down for a backyard barbecue, brunch, or even a day date with some laid-back accessories like a comfy pair of sandals and a straw bag.  This dress will no doubt become a favorite in your wardrobe like it is in mine.
